CIP3 is a
graphic arts organization that has been
formed by a number of the industries
leading companies. Their purpose is to
provide a standard format named PPF
(Print Production Format) for the
integration of the digital data and
information between the prepress, press
and post press processes. As a member
since inception Dainippon Screen
continues to be an active contributor
within the organization.
Screen
products comply to the CIP3 standard,
which ensures that output data files
from the Screen workflow solutions in
PPF format, can be used when transferred
to third party devices supporting the
CIP3 standard. One application is to
enable the printer to automatically set
the ink keys on the press enabling
faster make ready times with less waste.
CIP4 is the next stage of development
and is currently ongoing. One of the key
features is enabling the user to utilize
the CIP4 data for print finishing
applications.
